Currently touring the States with Spectral Nights favourites The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die (and soon both bands will be heading around the US with emo legends Into It. Over It.), A Great Big Pile of Leaves were formed in 2007 and have released two phenomenal albums that effortlessly get your toes tapping and head bouncing. Now based in New York, the band consists of Pete Weiland, Tyler Soucy, Tucker Yarro and Matt Fazzi and have previously supported the likes of Saves the Day and Motion City Soundtrack.
With a bright and breezy tone, the band specialise in slacker song titles (‘Snack Attack’, ‘Pizzanomics’ and ‘Slumber Party’ all feature on last year’s ‘You’re Always on My Mind’ album) and even more graceful melodies. With an air of NYC cool also present throughout, their sound not only has moments of sophistication similar in tone to Kevin Devine or Mansions but also elements of the skewed and wonky pop of Wild Beasts. Listen to them once and prepare to be hooked.
