Embrace are set to celebrate their 30th anniversary with the release of ninth album ‘Avalanche’ via Cooking Vinyl on 12 June, 2026. Ahead of this release, the band have shared ‘Stop’, a song that finds them dipping into The National or Echo and the Bunnymen-esque melodies while delivering a hands-in-the-air singalong chorus that has served them so well over the past three decades: ‘Won’t you stop, stop what you’re doing, stop what you’re saying before you break my heart’.

Lead singer Danny McNamara says the idea for the song came about when he was thinking about scale and how we’re ‘heading into absolutely nothing’: ‘Oddly, I don’t find that depressing. I find it freeing. If none of this is permanent, then the pressure we put on ourselves, to be better, bigger, fixed, sorted, is kind of absurd. That song is a demand, to myself as much as anyone, to stop, look around, and actually live in the moment.’
