(Sandy) Alex G has shared the stunning Zev Magasis-directed video for new single ‘Gretel’ and announced details of his ninth (!) album ‘House of Sugar’. His third LP to be released via Domino, it will be released on 13 September.

‘Gretel’ finds the Philadelphia native dipping into elements of psychedelia, shoegaze and emo with idiosyncratic style. It opens (and finishes) with a blend of vocoded vocals, a dreamy bass line and tales of being called back to where he once come from, only to be buried once he gets there. He retaliates against this with defiant lyrics over a sound that at first recalls American Football but then veers into something more cosmopolitan: ‘I don’t want to go back, nobody’s going to be put me off track’.
