2000trees 2024 – Beyond the Music

We’ve already looked at the smaller acts set to storm this year’s 2000trees festival and picked out our top 5 must-see moments, but this is a festival about far more than just music…

We first started going to festivals at the turn of the millennium and the bigger ones did not offer much choice when it came to food – some soggy noodles or a half-cooked burger in a stale bun was the height of fine dining back then – but thankfully festival food has improved into something entirely different, and now there are tasty dishes to delight any tastebud. 2000trees has some of the best food stalls around, catering for all dietary preferences. Piggie Smalls and the Mac Shack are firm festival favourites, Barnaby Sykes Pie Maker and Banging Burritos will keep you happily filled up and Suzies is always busy. It also wouldn’t be Trees for us – whatever the weather – without having a daily dose of dairy goodness from The Splitscreen Ice Cream Co.

We’re hopefully bringing our 2.5-year-old along to the Saturday and although he LOVES music, we can’t wait to see him get involved with some of the family activities on offer at 2000trees. From the Forest School in the woods that teaches little festival-goers how to embrace their adventurous side and survive in the wild to Room No. 7 with its Trash Metal Kids Stage, which will inspire headliners of future decades, there’s so much to do. There’s a sheltered play area near Family Camping with costumes, books, toys and a sandpit and another one in the main arena, which means we can all watch bands while the little one has fun.

On the Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, The Word Stage hosts a stellar comedy lineup with Zoe Lyons, Alexandra Haddow, Joey Page, Sooz Kempner and Bobby Mair just some of the acts who’ll be bringing the laughter to Upcote Farm.

All that – and we haven’t even mentioned this year’s fancy dress theme – 2000Screams. Will any of these horror-themed outfits beat Three Trapped Tigers in Literal Interpretations of Band Names as our all-time favourite Trees costume?

2000trees Festival 2024 takes place from Wednesday 10 to Saturday 13 July at Upcote Farm, Gloucestershire. More information and tickets are available at 2000trees.co.uk.
