Swaggering superstar-in-waiting De’Wayne releases his third album, ‘June’, via Fearless Records today (30 July, 2025).

There’s no messing around with this record, opener ‘Lady Lady’ combining Aerosmith-style hooks with copious amounts of funk and one-liners about his love life: ‘Great conversation, I don’t think she’ll be staying’. This is followed by an old-school countdown to the album’s title track. It’s a singalong throwback full of lust to a cool girl called June: ‘I kiss her hand, although we were just friends. I’m enamoured by the way that she loves me’.

‘Take a Picture’ is unashamedly horny with its Kravitz riffs, repeats of ‘She’s so hot’ and declaration that: ‘Girl, you got me shakin’, got me misbehavin’, got me tired in the morning’. There’s almost a gospel opening to ‘Highway Robbery’ before De’Wayne shows off a fabulous falsetto while looking back on first kisses and feeling spellbound. ‘Sundays’ takes on more of a storytelling tone, with De’Wayne looking back on the limited time he spent with his troubled but beloved dad: ‘If it wasn’t for you, I don’t know who I would be’.

‘Forever’ continues with this synth-driven soundtrack before moving into something more samba, while De’Wayne tells the subject of his affections: ‘The way you’re moving got me sweaty now’. There’s a harsher, harder sound to ‘Prize Fight’, an ode to a street-fighting partner that falls somewhere between Beastie Boys and Prince.

The closing ‘Love Raider’ has a relentlessly upbeat tone that rounds off the album in true rock and roll style. It’s 3 and a half minutes combining a promise to ‘give you more’ with the unforgettable line ‘She’s so primal but she’s everything’.

‘June’ is a electrifying record that you’ll be enjoying for months.
