The Divine Comedy – ‘Invisible Thread’

The Divine Comedy have shared the video for ‘Invisible Thread’ ahead of the release of 13th album ‘Rainy Sunday Afternoon’ on 19 September, 2025.

The video stars Ardal O’Hanlon, while the song offers a poignant take on parenthood – ‘there will always be an invisible thread between you and me’ and how it feels when they start to discover their independence: ‘So, go spread your little wings and fly. Fly, you don’t even need a reason why’.

Featuring guest vocals from Neil Hannon’s daughter, Willow (just to add an extra pang of emotion), there are also observations about the contradictions of missing being responsible for their well-being, while also being proud they are out there making it on their own.
