The Orchestra (For Now) – ‘Hattrick’

London seven-piece The Orchestra (For Now) have shared the video for new single ‘Hattrick’ ahead of the release of their second EP, ‘Plan 76’, on 31 October, 2025.

Describing the song as ‘a series of explosions and attempts at recovery and reckoning’, it packs a hell of a lot into its 5 minutes and 41 seconds. Opening in quiet and eerie fashion, there are left-field turns into avant-garde screaming over a strings-laden cinematic soundtrack before veering into something a bit more baroque a la Black Country, New Road.

Joe Scarisbrick talks about how he’s trying while the subject is crying before the song breaks down into news snippets and a string solo. This is followed by an admission of drunken regret and forgetfulness: ‘I’m a nightmare in the day’. All this while the mathy sound brings to mind La Dispute and Maybeshewill.
