Brooklyn-based indie-rockers Hiding Places have announced they’ve signed to Keeled Scales and shared new single ‘Holy Roller’, a song that vocalist Audrey Keelin describes as having ‘happened with no planning, no ‘trying to write, a pure, detached channeling’.
A bittersweet piece of math-tinged indie pop that fits somewhere between Big Thief and Broken Social Scene, Audrey thinks the song channels her nomadic feelings after leaving North Carolina to start a new chapter of her life in New York City. Opening with almost a minute of feedback-laced guitar, Audrey talks about seeing signs and her eyes being burned before defiantly delivering the chorus: ‘I’m a holy roller, I move so much, if the floor is burning, I climb up’.
The band plays a Brooklyn show this Friday, November 13 at Warsaw supporting Frog.
