Cork’s alt-rockers Pebbledash have shared ‘Isn’t It Always’, one of the standout tracks on recent EP ‘To Cast the Sea in Concrete’.

Steeped in dark atmospherics, synth player and guitarist Cormac Donovan O’Neill says: ‘The environment in which we recorded these songs – a secluded makeshift studio minutes outside the city, but still surrounded by green on all sides and within sight of the River Lee – ended up both informing and reflecting the conceptual through-line of the EP as a whole, emphasising the contrast and interaction between natural and urban, hard and soft, land and water.’

Clocking in at over 6 minutes, ‘the song ‘Isn’t It Always’ blends the guitar-heavy sound of The Twilight Sad with elements of math-rock titans like Godspeed! You Black Emperor – and can’t fail to send shivers down your spine, especially as subtle synths are added just as everything begins to cascade in darkly beautiful fashion.
