Cheekface – ‘Black Site’

Cheekface have shared new single ‘Black Site’ ahead of the release of their sixth album ‘Podium’ on 28 July. A song that takes aim at America’s CIA black sites, where music has been weaponised as a tool to annoy or coerce detainees. They’re essentially turning a sense of dread into something more communal, with Greg Katz declaring : ‘I’m glad we spent some time together, now that time is almost over. If you’re the last to leave, would you blow out the burning flags? If you’re the last to leave, would you put out the burning Bill of Rights?’

It finishes with a chanted singalong of ‘I got soul but I’m not Korea’ (you’ll recognise the inspiration for this) but all delivered over deliciously woozy bass lines, power-pop guitar hooks and a sugar-sweet melody you’ll be humming for days…
