Jawdropped have shared another damn fine single ahead of the release of their debut album ‘Secret to Spare’ on 18 September via Transgressive Records. ‘Cup’ has a touch of Lemonheads or Dinosaur Jr. in its scuzzy guitar sounds but blends this with the poppier sensibilities of Teenage Fanclub.

Following the lead character of an older song called ‘Star’, the song finds him struggling to get to grips with the LA lifestyle and on the verge of burnout with the band saying the song is: ‘About getting swept up in the ‘idea’ of a place, rather than the reality. Realising you’re the last one at the party.’ This is summed up be the repeated refrain of: ‘Wait too long till the first day that you have to try’
