Riffs and shouting is always good, especially when it’s part of the kind of glorious mess that Adventures create. A far-reaching sound, last year’s ‘Clear My Head With You’ EP has four tracks thet effortlessly merge together in perfect harmony. Their sound is something like Karen O having a meltdown while fronting Weezer, while other members of the band delve into spiralling post rock elements.

The five piece, signed to No Sleep Records, are based in Pittsburgh and have only been around since 2011, but already know exactly the sound they want to make. There’s an element of ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ being thrown into the mix, but when it comes off, it’s spectacular. The contrast between the boy-girl vocals is also expertly played out throughout differing tracks. Their self-titled debut EP from 2012 gave an indication of what to expect with its emo-laden guitar lines and candid lyrics, as well as some good old-fashioned scuzzy garage-rock moments. Let’s hope for a full-length this year?
