After ‘Are We There’ was named in many critics’ top albums of 2014, Sharon Van Etten has started the new year by unveiling a song called ‘I Don’t Want to Let You Down’. Premiered on Ellen Degeneres’ show in the States, the track could be a companion piece to any of those beautiful tales of heartbreak and optimism on ‘Are We There’.
Building gently in a Ryan Adams-esque style, the title is repeated time and time again throughout the track. With her candid honesty once again shining through in the lyrics, Sharon seems to be looking forward with renewed hope and optimism. It’s a dazzling listen.
