Indie legends Helen Love have released festive single ‘Glitter Star’ and – following a Twitter feud with Kirstie Allsopp two years ago – dedicated it to the ‘queen of making a pile of useless middle class tat into a popular TV series’ and her ‘tinsel-tasselled followers’.

Opening with Bis-style chants of ”G-L-I-T-T-E-R, come and make a glitter star’ over fast and sharp punk riffs, you’d be a fool to turn the band down as they advise ‘come on, let’s get arty’. To show they’re not kidding around, they then manage to mash up Billy Idol’s ‘Dancing with Myself’, Blur’s ‘Song 2′ and Oasis’ ‘Live Forever’ in a way that somehow works – and makes us want to invite them to DJ our next Christmas party.

The band then offer an irreverent statement of reassurance to Kirstie’s fans about how ‘when you’re lost and all alone, this glitter star will guide you home’ before delivering a seasonally apt choral breakdown and then a celebratory climax as they urge everyone to ‘glitter bomb the party’!
