If, like us, you’ve been listening to Lauren Laverne’s 6Music show every day of this lockdown, you are bound to be familiar with Pottery’s Foals-esque single ‘Texas Drums Pt 1’. Now, the Montreal band have shared ‘Hot Like Jungle’ – the closing track on forthcoming album ‘Welcome to Bobby’s Motel’ (released on 26 June via Partisan).

Viewed by the band as ‘almost a Springsteen parody’, the song starts with a killer bass hook and confessional Eddie Argos-style lyrics (‘When I come home please, let me throw down my keys, now let me love ya, I said ‘ohh, that’s nice, ohh, that’s nice, hot like jungle’) before the blue-collar Boss-style build-up comes when they declare ‘I just want to be with you’. It then dips into a yacht rock sound with panache before rushing back into that heart-on-the-sleeve anthemic sound that makes you want to put your fist in the air, Breakfast Club style.
