China Bears – ‘Statue Still’

China Bears have shared new single ‘Statue Still’ and announced details of a show at the Boileroom on 5 March next year (buy your tickets here). Released once again via the legendary Fierce Panda Records, the latest single from the four-piece is all about ‘those initial stages of loss and healing’ and the way that sometimes you just have to sit back and absorb everything that has happened in one swoop: ‘Now, I’ll just focus on getting through today’.

Clattering, almost-marching drums, anthemic hooks and emotional, self-referential lyrics about trying to help yourself (‘Why do I stand in front of the camera’s lens without any movement?’) bring to mind indie rock heroes like The War on Drugs and The National, while there are also lines about friends coming out of the woodwork during a tough time that will strike a chord with so many.
