Phoenix have shared ‘Identical’ – their first new material since 2017’s brilliant ‘Ti Amo’ album’. The song features on the soundtrack for Sofia Coppola’s new film ‘On the Rocks’, starring Bill Murray, Rashida Jones and Marlon Wayans. The band have also written the score for this film.

‘Identical’ opens with stop-start synth beats before Thomas Mars offers a number of astute observations about getting to know someone and trying to wash away their sins: ‘Take my advice, make your mistakes’. He also nostalgically recalls the joy of video tapes and remembers how ‘in the same room, on the same night, I found you caught up in the headlights’ as he tries to help the subject out of a rut.
