Firestations – ‘Small Island’

Firestations have released ‘Small Island’ – ‘a song about finding ways to escape when the dominant narrative seems to be stuck in slow motion or on repeat’ – ahead of the release of the first EP in their ‘Automatic Tendencies’ project (an album split into three EPs/collections) via Lost Map Records on 6 November.

A dreamy and atmospheric piece that recalls The War on Drugs and Real Estate, the band plea ‘Show me an infinite dark sea, take me out on a limb to an extremity and let me be myself, just let me byself’ before asking to be let go so they can float underwater and accept that the promise of tomorrow might be late as ‘the past is taking over’
