Gold Baby – ‘Captain Dorego’

Gold Baby have shared ‘Dorego’ ahead of the release of their debut EP ‘Rabbits’ on 26 March. The song finds Siân Alex laying bare her feelings about feeling overwhelmed in the overstimulating and always-on modern world. The press says it’s ‘about feeling overstimulated and inadequate, about wanting to smash and crush and grind your smartphone and run away into the woods’ and this level of frustration is certainly clear in the narrative. Opening with alt-folk atmospherics and swirling melodies, the sparse song finds Siân pondering how ‘this busy life was not cut out for someone like me’ before getting deliciously dark as she dreams of hitch-hiking down Route 66 and how she plans to ‘kill the driver, just for kicks’.
