Left Field Messiah – ‘Young Libertine’

Left Field Messiah – a band made up of Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat), Jeremy Ruzumna (Fitz and the Tantrums) and Erik Janson (Wildling) – have shared their latest single ‘Young Libertine’. The release follows the success of ‘Fuzz Machine’ and finds the trio stepping into the spaced-out zone where funk meets indie rock – you know the one… It’s served Beck, MGMT and Future Islands so well.

Opening with kaleidoscopic slices of psychedelia and catchy, groovy melodies, the band talk about trying to get on with their lives and go on their way while the subject keeps making cameos in their lives. Shortly after there’s falsetto-led talk of a ‘house of jealous lovers’ (is that a reference to The Rapture?), being ‘born again’ and a plea to not be thrown out.
