Villagers have shared the video for new single ‘The First Day’ and announced details of upcoming fifth album ‘Fever Dreams’ (out on 20 August via Domino – pre-order the album here). With a theme of escapism running through the songs on the new record, ‘The First Day’ finds Conor O’Brien in reflective mood as he sings about how it ‘feels like falling in love on the first day of the rest of your life’. This romantic line is delivered over a tantalising combination of electronics, floaty brass-enhanced chamber pop melodies and soulful backing vocals. It’s a celebration of human connection and all of the joy that this can bring.
