bedbug – ‘halo on the interstate’

bedbug – previously the lo-fi DIY project of Dylan Gamez Citron but now a fully fledged indie rock four-piece – have shared ‘halo on the interstate’ ahead of the release of fourth album ‘pack your bags, the sun is growing’ on 15 March through Boston’s Disposable America label.

With breezy and potent guitar Real Estate-style guitar hooks that morph into something more twinkly and Kinsella-esque, the song starts by telling the story of ‘a pretty fragile kid’ who ‘fucked around too much in high school before Dylan moves onto the more ‘grown-up’ and confessional themes of break-ups and depression: ‘You split my body inside out like a blossom on the ground’. It’s a powerful and sad tale wrapped in something quite beautiful.
