Idlewild – ‘Stay Out of Place’

Idlewild – one of THE great British bands – have returned with ‘Stay Out of Place’, the first single to be taken from their forthcoming 10th (tenth!) album ‘Idlewild’. The record will be released on 3 October via V2 Records.

Inspired by legendary American poet Walt Whitman’s view that we all contain multitudes and end up ‘choosing a voice from among the many voices’, the song opens with a scuzzy sound as Roddy Woomble muses over how he can prove himself in the modern world.

Roddy slightly shifts away from this in the more melancholic moments as he talks about running away and proving himself. There are echoes of Frightened Rabbit in both the inward-looking narrative and anthemic flourishes of guitar.
