Patrick Wolf has shared ‘The Beast’ ahead of a his appropriately titled US ‘Tour of the Beast’. Produced, engineered and recorded at his home studio in Ramsgate, England, the harpsichord-led track follows last year’s stunning ‘Crying the Neck’ album.
The song itself is a timely anthem of empowerment for anyone who finds themselves pushed to the sides in an ever-increasingly divided society. It blends chamber-folk-pop melodies with modular synths and electronic glitches, all surrounding Patrick’s ever-impassioned vocals capturing his rage at what is happening: ‘I’ve been so long worrying what I was doing wrong, I forgot my rights. You banished me to the border then you hate what I became to survive’.
There’s also exciting news of an upcoming feature-length biopic called ‘Wolf’, which will debut at Sheffield Doc Fest June 11. It’s slated for release at the end of this year and is executive produced and narrated by Tilda Swinton.
