Martha Hill – ‘Granite Feet’

Martha Hill has made a welcome return with the quietly gorgeous ‘Granite Feet’.

Co-written and recorded at home with fellow new parent Jordie Cooke during nap times, the introspective and deeply personal slice of indie-folk finds Martha talking about waking up with a ‘storm cloud head’ and making promises to try harder.

There’s a touch of Adrianne Lenker or Haley Heynderickx as Martha opens up about feeling weighed down – ‘I wanna be like the great novelists but I can’t find the words to fit’ – and then then celebrates finding comfort and solace in companionship: ‘All my life I’ve been searching for something. All this time I’ve been waiting for someone. All my life I’ve been searching for something I don’t know what is. All this time I’ve been waiting for someone like you.’
