Indoor Pets, the artists formerly known as Get Inuit, have returned with a song surprisingly bursting with positivity and pride. Frontman Jamie Glass is a self-confessed cynic but even he gives in to the power of love and this 2-and-a-half minute burst of power-pop captures all the joys that come with falling for someone as…
Bad News Club is the latest signing to the prestigious paradYse Records (Marika Hackman and Spring King have also featured on their roster) and ‘The Painter’ is a stunning introduction to his heartfelt and intimate work. This is the very first take of the acoustic song, recorded onto an iPhone, and it has a lo-fi…
Cats of Transnistria – ‘Tunnel’ Helsinki act Cats of Transnistria’s ‘Tunnel’, which features on their new album ‘Opium’ merge David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti-esque eerieness with a powerful wall of feedback and drippings of distorted guitar and unnerving harmonies. The opening of the song is quite dreamy but this evolves into Godspeed-inspired post-rock with added string arrangements…

Field Music – ‘Count It Up’ Field Music’s new single was described to us by their PR as ‘Jeremy Corbyn fronting Talking Heads’ and we couldn’t have been more excited to hear it. A Brexit-baiting track that was inspired by David Brewis’ disappointment in his hometown Sunderland being the first town to vote Leave, it combines…
The Orielles – ‘Let Your Dogtooth Grow’ Now signed to Heavenly and all set to release one of the albums of 2018, The Orielles’ ‘Let Your Dogtooth Grow’ is a song full of swaying guitars and gently melded vocals. We heard the melodic elements of C90 favourites like Teenage Fanclub mixed up with some of…
Words by Joe Booley. Opening the EP with the lead single, ‘Shelter’, Charlotte Carpenter demonstrates her strengths as a songwriter right off the bat. Straight into a driving force of guitar and drums to fall back for the entry of Charlotte’s clean and sassy vocals, with a half-speed chorus we feel almost a complete shift…
