Introducing: Fatherson

Coming recommended by the likes of BBC Introducing’s Ally McCrae and Clash, Fatherson are all set to be the next Kilmarnock band to become one of your favourites. Having already developed a passionate fanbase in their native country, it’s now time for the rest of the country to wake up to their songs of hope and sorrow.

Ahead of their tour supporting Lonely the Brave (which will be stopping off at Aldershot’s West End Centre on 31 January), the four-piece have made new track ‘I Like Not Knowing’ available to stream. Opening with a blast of My Vitriol-tinged guitar, the song slows down as it opens with the gloomy lyrics: ‘Throw myself under a bridge, trying to get some time on my own’ in an unmistakeable Scottish twang, before an arena-sized chorus, that Twin Atlantic would be proud of, swoops in: ‘I know you’re under the water, I can hear you breathing’. There’s even time for the band members to swap harmonies in style…

The song will feature on Fatherson’s debut album ‘I Am An Island’, due for release on 7 April via A Modern Way records. In the meantime, enjoy this anthemic slice of indie rock over and over again. It gets stuck in your head – in a good way.
