The Cottonettes – For the O’s

As football fans around the world gear up for the World Cup in Brazil (kicking off on 12 June – it’s almost here!), The Cottonettes have turned their attention closer to home. With a certain section of South East London gearing up for a huge game at Wembley Stadium on Sunday 25 May – the League One Play Off final between Leyton Orient and Rotherham – the indie-punksters have unveiled a reworked version of their pop hit ‘For the Boys’, now entitled ‘For the O’s’.

Recorded to mark this season’s momentous achievement by frontman Ben’s favourite football team, the track has a distinctly Buzzcocks feel and a mod attitude throughout, as the Cottonettes dare to dream of Russell Slade leading Orient, or the O’s as they’re affectionately known, up those famous stairs to lift the trophy and love life in the second tier. The passionate title is repeated over and over again, ensuring the fervent track is terrace friendly – will it help psyche up Leyton Orient’s players before the biggest game of their lives? We’ll find out on Sunday…
