Blanketman – ‘I’m Taking You With Me’

Blanketman are a new band from Manchester who played a sold-out show in Manchester mere days before the pandemic took hold and changed all of our lives. They’ve already played numerous festivals, gaining praise from Huw Stephens and Steve Hanley (The Fall), and are now set to release debut single ‘Taking You With Me’.

Sitting somewhere between early Blur, The Futureheads and Sports Team, the song has Adam Hopper lamenting how terrifying the prospect of getting old is (‘I’m taking you with me, we ain’t getting any younger. I’m taking you with me and we could be young forever’) over bouncy stop-start indie-pop hooks and his delivery gets more and more fraught before finally admitting ‘We ain’t staying young forever’.
