Michelle – ‘The Bottom’

MICHELLE, a majority queer/POC band from New York City, have signed to Transgressive Records in the UK and Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records for the rest of the world. They have also shared a live performance video (recorded in February) for ‘The Bottom’ – a song that celebrates their hometown – to celebrate their news and you can hear their debut album ‘Heatwave’ across all the usual channels’.

Vocalist and lyricist Emma Lee says ‘The Bottom’ is ‘an ode to the East river. Whispering worries to my mom by the river, mustering up the courage to dive in without fear – diving into what scares me, or into this loyal body of water’.

Seamlessly blending all kinds of genres but with a focus on tight pop melodies, grand harmonies and a killer R & B-meets-synthpop beat, the song finds the collective declaring ‘I’m not afraid to see the bottom’ before wistfully singing about how ‘I’m not around here’.
