New My Little Empire Records signing Born Again Virgin has shared latest single (and first on MLE) ‘Spider in the Snow’. An Austin, Texas native now based in London, the song follows the independent release of her highly acclaimed self-titled debut EP.

Anna Roenigk (Born Again Virgin) only moved to London last year and this new single captures the spirit of both this bustling city and her hometown. Opening with sparse instrumentation, the song finds Anna reminiscing on a past relationship with the same kind of candour and care as Anna Calvi: ‘I’ll try not to read all of your favourite books, or think of how you look when you’re lying fast asleep. I’ll try not to trace the dark lines under your eyes when you dream’.

After the opening verse, the grungey guitars and drums kick in with raw gusto although there are also elements of the kind of baroque pop – and heartbreak – favoured by Rufus Wainwright: ‘No matter how long your arms might be they won’t be able to reach me, so I’ll tie my hands behind my back because I know I want you in a way that I will never have’
