Maximo Park – ‘Child of the Flatlands’

Maxïmo Park have returned with ‘Child of the Flatlands’ – the band’s first new music in almost four years. The release is accompanied by a visual art piece from Greg Hodgson.

The melancholic slice of arty dream pop has a kaleidoscopic feel as Paul Smith looks back on his youth in Teesside and laments the fact that so many things that he grew up with no longer hold people’s interests or are sadly disappearing: ‘The bright lights have paled, the libraries are closing down now. Where will the old folks go when they feel all alone?’
