Armlock – ‘Turf War’

Australian duo Armlock have shared new single ‘Turf War’ ahead of the release of debut album ‘Trust’ on 2 June. Released via Solitaire Recordings (home to Spectral Nights favourites Kate Davis, Little Kid and Common Holly), the band have already received praise from NPR, Stereogum and NME.

Opening with drawling vocals and a restrained alt-folk guitar sound that fits somewhere between Elliott Smith and Big Thief, ‘Turf War; seems to find the band having an existential dilemma: ‘We’ve just existed for so long’. There are observations about taking things slower and delicate harmonies and subtle strings as the band consider how liberating it would be to move on to the next stage of their lives and leave disagreements behind without any resolution.
