End of the Road festival has set up a record label especially for London four-piece Modern Woman – a surefire sign that this band is something quite special. They’ve already played shows with Black Midi and Squid and this debut single, ‘Offerings’, shows why they went down so well with those bands’ loyal bands of fans. Part art rock, part riff-heavy post punk and alway poetic thanks to Sophie Harris’s powerful words and folk-tinged delivery that ranges from tender to terrifying – often in the space of one sentence – there’s so much on offer here.
