Fatherson – ‘End of the World’

Fatherson have made a welcome return with the suitably gloomily titled new single ‘End of the World’. Straying into a more fractured pop sound than the anthemic indie-rock that’s served them so well in the past, there’s still a delightfully dry and melancholy tone throughout as Ross Leighton sings about being a non-believer and how important is to have fun when things start to go pear-shaped: ‘If it’s my last day on Earth, I’m doing what I want’; ‘I know you don’t love me like you did before but that’s not the end of the world’.
