The Xcerts follow up recent release ‘Gimme’ with ‘Ache’ – ‘a song about desperately clinging on to hope when your own mental wellbeing is cumbling’. It’s 104 seconds of adrenaline-driven power-pop hooks, poignant discussion and advice on letting go when things get too much (‘Life’s a bitch, please take care of yourselves’) and features a guest appearance from Sam Carter from the legendary Architects. Anyone whose seen either band – especially in their hometown Brighton gigs – over the past decade will know of the love between these two bands and Murray Macleod and Sam’s vocal interplay as they sing about ‘seeing beauty in the darkness’ and overcoming a lonely ache is something to be treasured.
