Blur have shared glorious new single ‘The Narcissist’ ahead of their UK shows and surprise new album ‘The Ballad of Darren’, out on 21 July via Parlophone.

The new single finds the band in pensive mood as Damon opens by talking about looking in the mirror, only to see ‘so many people standing there’. This is followed by some back-and-forth between Damon and Graham – and how much have we all missed that? – before the tempo ramps up with nods towards ‘Stand By Your Man’ in the hooks, memories of taking acid and the power of addiction and sublime chamber pop elements as Damon promises ‘I’ll be shining light in your eyes’.
