Brilliant news this week with the announcement that Reuben’s Jamie Lenman has returned to the music scene with a solo project. Releasing a double album via Xtra Mile in November, below you can see the video for the first split single from it, ‘Fizzy Blood//Pretty Please’.

‘Fizzy Blood’ rekindles memories of Reuben at their angriest with its heavy riffs and loud screams, although still leaves room for the melody, while ‘Pretty Please’ sees Jamie turn his attention to big band music. An instant earworm that rekindles memories of early Beatles, the song has deeply personal lyrics, some gentle humour and a touch of Bacharach.

In his time away from music, not only has Jamie honed his impressive illustration skills (which can be seen in the artwork for the new album), he’s also grown one of rock’s best ‘taches.
