It’s been such a strange year and in the spirit of togetherness and community, we’re going to be counting down to Christmas by sharing a selection of our – and our friends’ – favourite festive songs. Today, we’ve chosen ‘The Last Time I Saw You (O Christmas)’ by Porridge Radio.

Following a breakthrough year, Porridge Radio have restructured and recorded this live favourite from their annual festive shows. Dana Margolin says ‘It’s a song about having a miserable time every Christmas and the same cycles of heartbreak and depression endlessly repeating themselves’. This is shown in the opening lyrics as Dana talks about things circling around year after year and how ‘the last time I saw you, you said don’t sing about me, please don’t sing about this’. While there are sparkling effects in the background, the song acts as a reminder to check in on those who might not be having the easiest time during the festive season.
